Why did Air Canada suspend all flight operations in August 2025?
Due to a strike by over 10,000 flight attendants Air Canada suspended all operations after more than 10,000 flight attendants went on strike following a failed contract negotiation. The union rejected government-directed arbitration, preserving their right to strike. The airline began locking out staff after the 1 a.m. EDT strike began. Around 130,000 passengers were affected daily, with 25,000 Canadians potentially stranded abroad. Restarting operations could take up to a week even after a deal is reached, due to the scale of the shutdown.

The Rajasthan Equestrian Association challenged the meeting, alleging that Col Jaiveer Singh was attempting to run EFI as a 'one-man show' and that several member clubs were bogus. The court observed no rationale in further complicating the situation and postponed the hearing to October 13, 2025. Issues included the creation of a separate email ID, membership approvals, and selection criteria for major events. The Sports Ministry’s 2021 exemption of EFI from key Sports Code provisions is also under legal challenge.
